WHAT IS ORGANIC PROCESSING?

Organic processing is all about removing chemicals from your coffee bean and thus making them organic. This doesn’t mean the product is free of chemicals. The remaining chemicals, non-organic materials, aren’t products that will harm you.

Organic processing is done in about 2 ways:

  1. Dry processing: this method goes way back and is the oldest one. The cherries are cleaned and placed in the sunlight to dry. From time to time, they are switched to ensure a consistent effect. When the drying is done, the fruit is removed.
  2. Wet processing: A more expensive way of processing it. Here the fruit is removed from the cherries before the process of drying. You can’t do this without the proper machines and amounts of water. After the removal of the beans, they’re left in tanks for fermentation. After this, the drying process can start.

Dry processing ensures us from fruity tastes and full-body, while wet processing ensures a cleaner taste, but less body. The latter is not always possible because you need access to water sources.

WHAT IS ORGANIC ROASTING?

Organic roasting is what it is: roasting the organic beans. The roasters roast the beans in a roaster that’s assigned to roast only organic beans and nothing else. This is done to prevent other tastes to be created because of “pollution”.

During this process, there are no chemicals or other stuff added in order to keep it organic. It would be a shame to do so.

The latter exists also: you can decide to roast the beans you’ll get and do this in an organic way. This doesn’t mean you’ll get the certification.
